Fireworks at Itsukushima

Each year, on August 14th, Itsukushima Shrine hosts its most spectacular event – the fireworks festival. Three barges loaded with pyrotechnics are towed into the bay behind the giant torii gate. Rockets screech into the night, filling the sky with a myriad of fiery flowers and waterfalls.
